Welcome to the newly re-designed Covenant Church of Mobile website! We pray that you will find it to be relevant and user-friendly; that this site will encourage you in the Lord and provide timely information about the beliefs and activities of Covenant Church of Mobile. Special thanks to Tim Heath, Katherine Heath, Michael Myles, Grant Simpson, and Jonathan Simpson for working to make this website a reality.

Check in regularly on this site, which will be updated often. Important announcements, news, and resources can be found here, and we will continue to work on this site intensively in days ahead to make it fully functional with even more benefits!

The Lord is doing “a new thing” – He is leading us in new ways and opening new doors. One of my favorite praise songs is “The Steadfast Love of the Lord,” which reminds us that His eternal mercies are “new every morning.” This song comes directly from Scripture:

“This I recall to my mind,
Therefore I have hope.
Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
“ The LORD is my portion,” says my soul,
“ Therefore I hope in Him!”
The LORD is good to those who wait for Him,
To the soul who seeks Him.
It is good that one should hope and wait quietly
For the salvation of the LORD.”
(Lamentations 3:21-26, New King James Version)

Notice that this powerful and beautiful passage of hope is found in a book called Lamentations. This book was written by Jeremiah as he mourned the destruction of Jerusalem and the captivity of Israel. In the middle of a very difficult and tragic time, Jeremiah had faith in the great faithfulness of the Lord; Jeremiah knew that God is good, rich in mercy, relentlessly redeeming, and true to His Word.

The same God that comforted Jeremiah and ultimately redeemed His people is the same God who still sovereignly reigns over heaven and earth today. This is an encouraging truth for us to remember, to meditate upon, to give thanks for, and to place our hope in. (That’s not the best grammar, but it’s pretty good theology!)

God never promised us that we would not go through stormy seasons in life. But He did promise that He would never leave us or forsake us, that His plan for us was “for good and not for evil, to give us a future and a hope,” and that He was causing “all things to work together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.”

May you find God’s new mercies this day, and every day, as you fix your eyes on Him!

In Jesus,
Pastor Stephen Simpson
